PART 2 - THE HOUSE HE NEVER OWNED

Taylor did not scream.

She did not ask Spencer why or beg him to remember their vows. She looked at Kaylie in her robe, at Martha’s satisfied expression, and finally at the man who had abandoned her during surgery.

Spencer mistook her silence for weakness.

“This marriage has been over for months,” he said. “Kaylie understands the life I’m building. You never did.”

Taylor shifted Lisa against her chest. “And what life is that?”

“This house. My company. My reputation.” He pointed toward the hallway. “You and the baby need to leave tonight.”

Martha stepped forward, her pearl necklace trembling. “Do not make this uglier. Spencer owns everything. Be grateful he is not calling security.”

For the first time, Taylor smiled.

It was small and exhausted, yet Kaylie’s confidence faltered.

“Call them,” Taylor said.

Spencer blinked. “What?”

“Call security. Call your lawyer too.”

Kaylie laughed nervously. “She’s in shock.”

Taylor removed her phone from

the carrier pocket and tapped one contact. “Daniel, I’m home. Begin the transfer lock and send the documents.”

Spencer’s face tightened. “What transfer?”

Within seconds, his phone buzzed. Then Kaylie’s. Then Martha’s.

Spencer stared at the screen as color drained from his face. His company cards had been frozen. The executive accounts were suspended. The mansion’s access system had removed his authorization.

“That’s impossible,” he whispered.

Taylor’s father had founded Solomon Development, but before his death he placed every major asset into a trust controlled solely by her. Spencer had been president in title only. The mansion, the Bentley, even the company shares he boasted about belonged to Taylor.

For years, she had quietly allowed him to believe otherwise.

She turned toward the stairs.

“You have one hour to collect your clothes.”

Then Daniel’s reply appeared.

The message should have brought relief. Instead, Taylor stopped breathing.

SECURITY FOOTAGE RECOVERED. SPENCER

WAS NOT ALONE THE NIGHT YOU WENT INTO LABOR. MARTHA BROUGHT SOMEONE INTO THE HOUSE—AND THE WOMAN CLAIMS LISA IS NOT YOUR FIRST CHILD.

Taylor slowly looked back at her mother-in-law.

Martha was no longer angry.

She was terrified.
