MY HUSBAND HID ME AT HIS COMPANY GALA BECAUSE HE WAS ASHAMED OF MY CHEAP DRESS
PART 1 — THE WIFE HE WANTED TO HIDE
Julian Whitmore believed he had built the perfect life.
Chapter 1

Julian Whitmore believed he had built the perfect life.
A respected career. A powerful position at a successful company. A loving wife who always stood quietly beside him.
But on the most important night of his professional life, the thing that worried him the most was not a business decision.
It was Elena.
Elena arrived at the company gala wearing a simple navy-blue dress.
There was no famous designer label. No expensive jewelry. No luxury accessories that matched the glittering outfits of the guests around her.
But the dress was special to her.
She had repaired a small loose stitch herself that afternoon while sitting at her kitchen table.
It reminded her of the woman who raised her.
Rosa Bennett.
A kindhearted woman who had taken Elena in when she was a little girl with no memory of where she came from.
Rosa had never had much money, but she had given Elena something far more valuable.
A home.
A family.
And a reason to believe she belonged somewhere.
Julian looked at Elena before they entered the ballroom.
His expression changed slightly.
“Maybe stay toward the back tonight,” he said quietly.
Elena looked at him.
“I came here because I wanted to support you.”
“I know,” Julian replied. “But this event is important. There are executives, investors, and people who matter.”
His words were calm, but they still hurt.
Elena had once believed Julian loved the simple things about her.
When they first met, he told her he admired honesty more than wealth. He said he was tired of people pretending to be something they were not.
She believed him.
But over time, things changed.
The compliments became corrections.
The affection became distance.
And slowly, Elena began to feel like she had to apologize for being herself.
Without saying anything, she touched the small silver necklace around her neck.
A half-sun pendant.
Rosa had given it to her before she passed away.
“You don’t know where your story began,” Rosa once told her, “but that doesn’t mean your story has no beginning.”
Elena never understood what those words meant.
Not until tonight.
