Chapter 1
The wedding looked like something out of a magazine—elegant, flawless, carefully designed to impress everyone who walked through the doors.
Soft music floated through the reception hall while golden chandelier light spilled across the marble entrance. Outside, a polished black wedding car waited beneath the stairs, its “Just Married” sign moving gently in the evening breeze, as if the day had already decided it would be remembered as perfect.
Then someone noticed the little boy.
He sat alone near the bottom of the stone steps, nearly disappearing inside a black suit far too big for him. His small shoulders shook silently, and his face stayed hidden behind folded arms, like he hoped the world might stop seeing him if he stayed still long enough.
A woman from the wedding guests hurried toward him first.
“Oh, sweetheart…” she said softly, crouching beside him. “Are you okay? Where are your parents?”
The boy didn’t answer.
Carefully, she touched his arm—
and suddenly froze.
His sleeve slipped down slightly, exposing a bruised scar
It looked like someone had restrained him.
For a very long time.
The woman’s face lost all color.
“My God…” she whispered shakily. “What happened to you?”
That was the exact moment the groom stepped outside.
The second he saw the child, he stopped moving.
His expression changed instantly.
The guests noticed it immediately.
The boy slowly lifted his head. His eyes were red and swollen with exhaustion, as though he had been crying for hours before arriving there. When he finally spoke, his voice barely carried above the music.
“She told me… if I said anything… the other little boy would disappear too…”
The sentence hit the crowd harder than a scream.
Nobody spoke.
Nobody even breathed.
The groom turned
Inside the doorway, surrounded by flowers and warm candlelight, stood the bride.
But now she no longer looked radiant.
Her smile vanished completely.
Then she took a single step backward.
Just one.
Yet somehow it changed everything. The light slipped away from her face, leaving half of it hidden in shadow.
“No… you don’t understand…” she whispered weakly.
The boy’s trembling hand slowly lifted into the air.
And he pointed directly at her.
An icy silence spread across the entire wedding.
Guests stood frozen on the staircase. Conversations died instantly. Even the music inside suddenly felt distant and wrong.
In that moment, it felt as though the entire celebration finally realized the truth—
the perfect wedding had been built around the wrong woman all along.
